VCOM-Carolinas Hosts Annual Pediatrics Boot Camp

The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine Carolinas Campus (VCOM-Carolinas) held its annual Pediatrics Boot Camp on March 27, 2025. Students who attended the event got hands-on pediatric standardized patient experience, participated in complex simulations with VCOM-Carolinas’ state-of-the-art technology and enjoyed some pediatric-themed board games. How Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Is Treating a Boy's Hearing Loss

Faced with the prospect of a cochlear implant for their three-year-old son Tristen’s hearing loss, Daniel and Daphne Crawford searched for options.

Though not opposed to an implant, the North Carolina couple wanted to exhaust other avenues first. A family member suggested the Georgia Osteopathic Care Center—the osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM) clinic at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Georgia Campus (PCOM Georgia)—might help Tristen.

“I said, ‘I don’t even know what you’re talking about,’ but I’m open to it because I’m grasping for straws as a mom of a 3-year-old; it’s our only child,” Daphne said. Read more about how the OMM treatment treats Tristen.


OCOM Launces New Scholarly Journal to Advance Osteopathic Medical Research

The Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM) proudly announces the official launch of its own peer-reviewed research publication: Academic Osteopathic Medicine. This innovative journal, spearheaded by OCOM’s Research Department and led by esteemed physician-scientist Latha Ganti, MD, MBA, seeks to fill a longstanding gap in scholarly publishing within the osteopathic community. Public Presentation Is Highlight of Celebrate Osteopathic Medicine Week

The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) has named April 14-18, 2025, as Celebrate Osteopathic Medicine (COM) Week, with Lewisburg, West Virginia, Mayor Beverly White signing a proclamation declaring COM Week in the city. CCOM Students Advocate for the Future of Medicine: Student Doctors Push for Critical Healthcare Policies at DO Day on Hill

Students and faculty from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) made a powerful impact at the American Osteopathic Association's annual DO Day on the Hill, held March 26-27, 2025, in Washington, D.C. A delegation of 24 medical students, ranging from first- to fourth-year, attended with a strong passion for engaging in medical advocacy on a national level.

CCOM’s delegation advocated for Medicare payment reforms and funding for Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education programs to support physicians and training programs. Read more about CCOM’s DO Day on the Hill.


On a Global Mission, a UNTHSC-TCOM Student Spent a Rotation in Kenya and Is Now Preparing for a Pediatric Global Residency

A passion for medicine, a love of children and a desire for global health led University of North Texas Health Science Center-Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNTHSC-TCOM) student Natali Borrego on a once-in-a-lifetime rotation to Africa for two weeks in February. Natali spent two weeks in Maai Mahiu, Kenya, with a non-profit organization called Ubuntu Life Foundation, helping with a team to run a neurology clinic for children with very complex conditions. Not only does this support prospective students with greater clarity and confidence, but it also strengthens RVU’s ability to enroll committed, mission-aligned candidates and manage incoming classes more strategically. Impactful Research Showcased at ICOM's Research Conference

A wide range of innovative research was on display during the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM)’s seventh annual Research Conference Day on March 28, 2025. The event is a campus-wide celebration of the research and scholarly endeavors of the college’s students, faculty and institutional partners.

ICOM’s Research Day provides students with the opportunity to showcase the scholarly projects they have conducted under the guidance of faculty mentors and in collaboration with local and national researchers. This year, ICOM students submitted a total of 90 poster presentations, highlighting the work of 117 student doctors, 27 faculty members and 46 external collaborators.
