Leadership Awards
Dale S. Dodson Award
Created in memory of AOA Past-President and osteopathic medical education innovator Dale S. Dodson, DO, this annual award recognizes a current or past CEO or CAO of an osteopathic medical college who has made significant contributions to the advancement and support of osteopathic medical education. The Dodson Award is given on behalf of the AACOM Assembly of Presidents.
Robert A. Kistner Leadership Award
The Robert A. Kistner Award is presented each year on behalf of the AACOM Board of Deans. Individuals who receive this award are nominated and selected in recognition of their significant contributions to osteopathic medical education throughout their careers.
William D. Miller Leadership Award
The William D. Miller Award is presented each year on behalf of the AACOM Board of Deans. Recipients of this award are nominated and selected in recognition of their extraordinary contributions to the advancement of the osteopathic profession.

Excellence in Communications Awards
AACOM’s Excellence in Communications Awards Program are presented in honor of the outstanding marketing, media relations, public education, writing, and design efforts of the nation’s colleges of osteopathic medicine.
Outstanding Medical Education Research Poster and Presentation Award
The AACOM Outstanding Medical Education Research Poster and Presentation Award is presented to the individual whose poster and presentation submission at the AACOM Annual Conference is found to achieve the highest standards of professional, scientific, and educational rigor.
SOME Innovation in Medical Education Awards
The AACOM Society of Osteopathic Medical Educators (SOME) confers Innovation in Medical Education Awards in recognition of specific educational innovations that have resulted in meaningful change at the developer’s institution.
Student Awards
Global Health Scholars of the Year Award
The Global Health Scholar of the Year Award was established by COSGP to recognize students who take an interest in advancing international understanding of osteopathic medicine.
National Student D.O. of the Year Award
The National Student D.O. of the Year is chosen from among the outstanding students selected by their schools as Student D.O. of the Year on the basis of their service to their college, leadership and research experiences, and dedication to the osteopathic profession.
National Student Researcher of the Year Award
The National Student Researcher of the Year is chosen from among the outstanding students selected by their schools on the basis of the student’s contributions to osteopathic research that align with the mission of both the osteopathic profession and COSGP—to advance the philosophy, practice, and science of osteopathic medicine.
