The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine and the Association of American Medical Colleges share a goal of ensuring a qualified and highly trained future physician workforce. Through an expanded collaboration, AACOM is pleased to provide access to several AAMC services to the osteopathic medical education community.

Choosing a medical specialty is one of the most significant decisions a medical student will make. Careers in Medicine® (CiM),offers tools and resources to help medical students and those who advise them to navigate specialty selection, residency application, and career development.

Designed For: Medical students and advisors

DO Community Benefits: Access to CiM will be available to all OMS I students and advisors. This does not affect OMS II, OMS III OR OMS IV students.

Financial Information, Resources, Services, and Tools (FIRST)

Financial Information, Resources, Services, and Tools (FIRST) helps members of the academic medicine community navigate the complexities of financial aid, student debt, and money management.

FIRST offers the Medloans® Organizer and Calculator (MLOC), which provides medical student and resident users with a secure location to organize and track their loans and calculate custom repayment plans.

Designed For: Medical students, Financial Aid Officers

DO Community Benefits: FIRST resources and the MLOC are currently available at no cost to students. Advisors will have access to administrator functions in the AAMC Financial Wellness program.

Visiting Students Learning OpportunitiesTM (VSLO)

AAMC-VSLO_122wThe Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program is a network of medical schools and teaching hospitals in the United States and in 38 other nations. The VSLO service enables medical and public health students to search for, and apply to, short-term elective opportunities that can enhance their medical education.

Designed For: Medical students, Institutions

DO Community Benefits: Many osteopathic medical schools and their students currently participate in the VSLO program. This agreement expands access to the VSLO service for all schools.

Students can participate in the VSLO program once their home school signs up.

Joint Statement
