Mental Empowerment Directive
The Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP) serve as student leaders in exploring the wellbeing of osteopathic medical students and developing programs to support them.
Past initiatives have included surveys on campus climate and awareness and use of campus mental health resources.
The goal of AACOM's Mental Empowerment Directive (MED) is to provide consistent and effective wellness programming on osteopathic campuses. This programming is created and managed by COSGP's MED officer and
Wellness Committee members, who strive to honor and help mitigate the effects of medical school on mental health and elevate conversations surrounding the need for emotional wellness as students and future doctors.
COSGP’s Wellness Committee implements regular initiatives to expand wellness programming for osteopathic campuses nationwide. The Committee also provides tools and resources for campus wellness liaisons to utilize in all five tenets of wellness: Emotional, Nutritional, Physical, Social and Spiritual Wellness.
