- On July 26, 2023, the House Ways and Means Committee advanced two bills along party lines: the Health Care Price Transparency Act, H.R. 4822, and the Providers and Payers COMPETE Act, H.R. 3284, which contain many similar provisions to the PATIENT Act, H.R. 3561, passed by the House Energy and Commerce Committee earlier this year.
- Republicans supported the bills and believe they address transparency issues; however, Democrats expressed concern that neither piece of legislation addresses private equity and its impact on Medicare fraudulent practices.
