  • Following the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023, federal requirements for practitioners to submit a Notice of Intent (also known as the DATA Waiver) to prescribe medications such as buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD) were removed.
  • This lifted federal reporting requirements, discipline restrictions and patient caps for the prescription of medications approved to treat OUD.
  • Beginning June 27, 2023, new or renewing Drug Enforcement Administration practitioners (except veterinarians) will now be required to check a box indicating that they have satisfied training requirements for prescribing medications for OUDs. Learn more.
