As we celebrated Thanksgiving last week and enter the holiday season, we want to express our gratitude for your engagement in AOGME and your ongoing leadership in support of the osteopathic profession. We encourage you to nominate a colleague or leader for the 2022 AOGME Awards. The call for nominations closes on December 30th and features three categories of awards: Leadership, Special Lifetime Achievement and Special Award of Appreciation. Awardees will be recognized at Educating Leaders 2022, the AACOM Annual Conference. Learn more about the AOGME Awards.
As a final reminder, consider joining the AOGME’s Collegium of Fellows, which is an honor recognizing long and meritorious service to the AOGME and the osteopathic profession. The status of Fellows is awarded for life, and when awarded the recipient is entitled to use the initials FAOGME following his/her name and degree. Applications must be received by December 1, 2021. On December 15, join us for the last AOGME membership meeting of the calendar year and an opportunity to connect with peers and raise topics for feedback or discussion. These meetings are held monthly. Last month, the membership met and discussed the UME-GME Review Committee recommendations from the Coalition for Physician Accountability, providing invaluable feedback to AACOM on these issues. Osteopathic Health Policy Fellowship
To educate and encourage AOGME members and the GME community at-large about opportunities to learn and engage in health policy efforts, AOGME held a three-part series of webinars, which concluded this month, featuring the co-directors of the Osteopathic Health Policy Fellowship. The co-directors, Dr. Al Pheley and Dr. Daniel Skinner, focused on advocacy at the state level, graduate medical education policy, and reviewed the osteopathic health policy fellowship program.
