As 2020 draws to a close, we know this has been an exceptionally difficult year. We applaud your resilience and the work you do and wish you a restful and happy holiday season!

In February, we look forward to connecting with you virtually at the ACGME/AOGME Osteopathic Recognition Pre-Conference Workshop on Wednesday, February 24, 9:00am-1:00pm. We are thrilled to partner with the ACGME again to present this workshop, which for the first time solicited abstracts from the community. View the workshop agenda and register for the conference.

Last month, I mentioned my involvement in the Coalition for Physician Accountability UME-GME Transition Review Committee. The Committee seeks statements on the ideal future state of the transition from UME-GME from AACOM. We are asking AOGME members to provide feedback on their future ideal design of the UME-GME transition on the following poll by December 31 to help inform our statement.

Next month, we will kick off our webinar series with content to support students in the transition to residency hosted by the AOGME Residents and Fellows Council. AOGME members can also access the on-demand webinar library, with over 50 webinar recordings offered for free to AOGME members.

2021 AOGME Awards Call for Nominations

There is still time to nominate a colleague or friend for the 2021 AOGME Awards. These awards are presented in several categories to honor individuals for their accomplishments and service to osteopathic graduate medical education and osteopathic medicine. This year, awards are offered in three categories: Special Lifetime Achievement Award, Leadership Award and Special Award of Appreciation. Nominations are accepted until December 30, 2020. Learn more.

We welcome new members who joined in November and December and look forward to your engagement! As we continue our efforts to recruit new members, beginning in January, we are offering an opportunity for new members to join throughout the calendar year and receive a full year of membership based on the date they join. Current members whose membership falls during the standard membership cycle, July 1-June 30, will not be affected.

We appreciate hearing from you, please feel free to reach out to us at any time with direct inquires by emailing aogme@aacom.org  or calling us at 301-657-7881.

Thank you,

Thomas Mohr, MS, DO, FACOI, FAOGME
