ACGME-AOGME Pre-Conference Workshop at AEC

We hope your 2020 is off to a great start! We are looking forward to the Joint ACGME-AOGME pre-conference workshop on Thursday, February 27, 2020 in San Diego and are making some final preparations for the event. If you are planning to attend the conference, be sure to join us for a special reception following the workshop at 4:30 PM. View the pre-conference workshop agenda.

Leadership & Learning Opportunities

Opportunities for members to serve in national leadership roles continue to grow. Recently, the Coalition for Physician Accountability launched an effort to examine the transition from medical school to residency and is convening a planning committee to lead this work. AOGME is one of the participating organizations in this effort. A Call for Nominations was recently disseminated; if you are interested in serving on the planning committee that will launch this work, please contact us at aogme@aacom.org. Nominations are due February 5, 2020.

This month, AOGME hosted two webinars to launch the 2020 webinar series. The first was an informational webinar about the AOGME Residents and Fellows Council (RFC) featuring its leaders. The second, held on January 29 concluded a four-part AOGME webinar series on scholarship and research and was focused on the interpretation of study results. Next month, in partnership with the American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO), AOGME will host a round table webinar discussion on a model to provide osteopathic focused education in GME. The webinar will feature the University Hospitals Osteopathic Consortium. Stay tuned for registration information.

AOGME GME Full-Day Program at Educating Leaders 2020

At Educating Leaders 2020, AOGME will host a day-long program on Wednesday, March 25, that will include an update from ACGME leadership, a panel sharing best practices implementing Osteopathic Recognition, and presentations on GME Nuts & Bolts, and GME finance. The AOGME Annual Membership/Business Luncheon will also take place on March 25. View the agenda and speakers for this program. There are additional GME offerings throughout the conference; for a more complete listing of all GME and AOGME programming and workshops, be sure to check out our program planner.

Showcase Your Work: Submit to the UME-GME Digital Resource Library

The UME-GME Digital Resource Library (DRL) is currently accepting submissions for its winter schedule—if you'd like the AOGME editorial board to consider your work for inclusion, please submit your materials before March 2, 2020. The DRL provides resources on a variety of topics on osteopathic education and training, including Osteopathic Recognition, accreditation, evaluations, and more. Events and resources that provide training to support programs to attain and/or maintain Osteopathic Recognition are strongly encouraged. Submissions will also be received on a rolling basis.

Tell us how we are doing! Please feel free to reach out to us at any time with direct inquires by emailing aogme@aacom.org or calling us at 301-657-7881.

Thank you for your continued support,
