Wynde Cheek, DO

Dr. Cheek received her medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her traditional medicine internship and neurology residency at Grandview Hospital Medical Center (now Kettering Health Dayton) in Dayton, Ohio, where she was chief resident. Dr. Cheek is board certified in neurology and holds an additional certificate of qualification in neurophysiology. She returned to her home state to practice in the Montana VA Healthcare system, where she was the Lead Physician on the Polytrauma Team and developed or expanded programs in stroke, movement disorders, multiple sclerosis and neurophysiology. Dr. Cheek is the President and CEO of Crossing Currents Consulting. As the owner of a solo practice, she combines her clinical skills and knowledge with outreach programs to promote osteopathic principles at the regional, national and international levels. Dr. Cheek is a past-president of the American College of Neuropsychiatrists/American College of Osteopathic Neurologists and Psychiatrists, member of the Montana Osteopathic Medical Association Board of Governors, and active in many specialty societies.

Anya Cope, DO

Dr. Cope is the Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs and an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee. Dr. Cope received her medical degree from The University of Pikeville’s Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky. After graduation, Dr. Cope returned home to southwest Virginia and completed her internal medicine residency at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, Virginia. She has long been active in graduate medical education, having previously served as core faculty and continuity clinic supervisor for Appalachian Regional Healthcare’s internal medicine residency program in Harlan, Kentucky. Dr. Cope’s academic interests include undergraduate medical education with an emphasis on clerkship education, preceptor development, and the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the medical education continuum. She currently serves on the American College of Osteopathic Internists Committee on Health Equity and Inclusion in Medicine.

Phil Eskew, DO

Dr. Eskew is a direct primary care family physician and attorney. His clinical interests are broad, and his legal interests are narrow. Dr. Eskew is AOA board certified in family medicine & osteopathic manipulative therapy with Certificate of Added Qualifications in correctional medicine, occupational medicine and addiction medicine. He enjoys teaching, whether it is with patients, medical colleagues, or legal colleagues. He has given over 75 continuing education presentations at events across numerous medical, law, and correctional system organizations. He founded DPC Frontier, an open access legal and policy research site in 2014 following health policy work in the AOA's Training in Policy Studies program, and as a Visiting Scholar at the Robert Graham Center. In 2015 he completed his family medicine residency in Pennsylvania and began serving a site medical director role for multiple state prisons in Wyoming. Since 2016 Dr. Eskew has also served as the Vice President of Clinical Development and General Counsel for Proactive MD, an on-site focused primary care clinic company headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina. He volunteers his time as general counsel to the Direct Primary Care Coalition where he routinely relies on his accounting and legal backgrounds to discuss federal tax and insurance law. His research has been published in many journals including the Journal of American Physicians & Surgeons, the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine, Family Practice Management, the Journal of Legal Medicine, and the West Virginia Medical Journal.

Cheryl Graffagnino, MS, RD, LD

Ms. Graffagnino is a program officer with the Osteopathic Heritage Foundations, the nation’s largest osteopathic-supportive funding organization, located in Dublin, Ohio. Ms. Graffagnino received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in medical dietetics from The Ohio State University and is a registered dietitian with extensive experience in both direct patient care delivery and health policy efforts. After more than a decade of clinical practice in dietetics, she joined Columbus Public Health where she was responsible for understanding the impact, viability, and sustainability of policy, system and environmental interventions such as school food policies, sugar sweetened beverage policies, urban agriculture zoning practices, food waste prevention models and, most recently, COVID-19 vaccine equity strategies. Ms. Graffagnino joined the Foundations in October 2021 and supports development and implementation of the Foundations’ grantmaking strategy as well as impact management related to the Foundations’ funding priorities, which are aligned with osteopathic medicine’s approach to patient care and in-community service. The Foundation serves statewide and national interests related to osteopathic medical education and research while concentrating philanthropic community investments in central and southeastern Ohio.

Britani Javed, DO

Dr. Javed is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Sciences Education and the Pediatrics Clerkship Director at A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine Arizona and is a Board-Certified Pediatrician. Dr. Javed received her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University and completed a Pediatrics Residency with Authority Health in Detroit, Michigan, with the goal of helping underserved populations. During her residency, she completed a Certificate in Population Health through the University of Michigan and continued to hold various leadership positions throughout this time in addition to holding the position of Chief Resident. Dr. Javed held many leadership roles throughout the years including the National President of the American Medical Student Association in 2014 and currently serves on their Foundation Board of Directors. She has also completed the Young Physician Leadership Alliance training through the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Javed has long been passionate about health policy. She currently sits on the Arizona Osteopathic Medical Association Legislative Affairs Committee, has participated in the American Osteopathic Association’s House of Delegates, and has organized multiple student-led lobby days at Capitol Hill. 

Thuy-Tien V. Le, DO

Dr. Le received her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. She completed her family medicine residency at St. John Detroit Riverview Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, where she also served as Chief Resident in her last two years. Upon graduation from residency, Dr. Le returned to her home state of Washington and worked at her father’s clinic to fulfill the requirement of her Health Professional Service Scholarship. There, she worked with mostly a non-English speaking population, refugees and immigrants from mostly Asia, some from Latin America, and a few from Africa. Her father’s clinic was chosen by the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department to do initial exams for all new refugees and immigrants from Vietnam who entered the county. Dr. Le also worked closely with the Department on their tuberculosis prevention and hepatitis B projects in the Asian population. When Dr. Le’s father retired, Dr. Le transitioned to the hospital outpatient system where she served as clinic dyad throughout her years there. Dr. Le was honored that her patients had followed her to the hospital system. After leaving the hospital system, Dr. Le was surprised to learn that there were a variety of non-traditional avenues that she could pursue and started doing At Home Risk Assessments for Medicare. Currently, Dr. Le is working as locum tenens at different clinics in her state.

Janet Lieto, DO

Dr. Lieto is the Director of Health Systems Science, Leadership and Innovation and an Associate Professor at University of North Texas Health Science Center–Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. Lieto is the Course Director for the Professional Identity and Health Systems Practice Courses for students during years 1-4. This course prepares students for clerkship and residency by tying students’ Professional Identity and growth with Health Systems Science foundational knowledge that can be applied to their clinical experiences. Curriculum is designed to promote confidence in becoming an Innovative Health Systems Science Healthcare Leader, System thinker and Adaptive Learner. Along with her team, Dr. Lieto launched the first and only Institute for Healthcare Improvement supported Patient Safety initiative that allows medical students to learn Patient Safety and sit for the Certified Professional in Patient Safety certifying board examination. Dr. Lieto is a triple Board-Certified Physician in Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care. In addition, she is a Certified Medical Director and a Certified Professional in Patient Safety. She has had multiple medical director positions at Continuing Care Retirement Communities as well as the Chief Medical Director for a not-for-profit hospice. Dr. Lieto has spoken locally, statewide, nationally and internationally on geriatric medicine, hospice and palliative care and medical academic curricular topics.

Emmanuel Dimitri Foko Tito, DO

Dr. Tito was born in a suburb of Douala, Cameroon, and is the third child of a family of five children. He left Cameroon at the age of fifteen because his parents pictured the United States as a land of opportunities where each of their children could succeed. Before and after the move, Dr. Tito grew up in a rural community neighborhood with limited access to medical resources, shaping him to be more understanding to the needs of underserved populations. Currently, he is a chief Internal Medicine resident and Captain in the U.S. Army at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine. Since medical school, he has been involved in osteopathic medicine advocacy efforts at the local and state level. He has engaged Congress in supporting all residency programs to be open to DO graduates and, through the Rural America Health Corps Act, established a student loan repayment demonstration program for eligible providers in primary care shortage areas. Dr. Tito served as the President of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine class of 2020 for two years prior to joining the AOGME Residents and Fellows Council as the chairperson. As a Training in Policy Studies Fellow, Dr. Tito participated in launching grassroots campaigns to Congressional leadership supporting policy in the Dr. Loma Breen HealthCare Provider Protection Act.

May Lin, DO

Dr. Lin is Assistant Dean of Graduate Medical Education and Program Development at Touro University, California. She earned a BA in Molecular Cell Biology and Education at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Lin attended medical school at Touro University where she was awarded Outstanding Student in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. She completed residency training in Family Medicine at Jefferson Abington Hospital in Pennsylvania while serving as the National Chair of the Postgraduate American Academy of Osteopathy and is a former Training in Policy Studies Fellow. Dr. Lin is a board-certified physician in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. Her clinical interests include outpatient Primary Care at a San Francisco based technology company, where she integrates osteopathic care in her day-to-day clinical practice. Education is key in her mission–raising and mentoring students, residents and clinical leaders nationally to embrace wellness, resilience and sustainability so that all patients have access to quality osteopathic care without barriers.

Kevin Miller, DO

Dr. Miller is cofounder (with his wife, Dr. Eden Miller) of Diabetes and Obesity Care. They practiced in rural Oregon for 20 years before starting their practice in Bend, Oregon where he emphasizes care in diabetes prevention, diabetes care, and obesity. He continues to see primary care patients and uses osteopathic manipulation in care of his patients. Dr. Miller received his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996. He completed his Family Practice residency with Ohio University Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital. Dr. Miller has served on Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeon of Oregon's Continuing Medical Education Committee for 18 years, and as president of the organization. He served on Oregon's Rural Health Coordinating Council for 13 years. Dr. Miller has represented Oregon for both the AOA and ACOFP board of delegates. Dr. Miller actively trains medical students as an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Western University/COMP Northwest. Dr. Miller and his team at Diabetes Nation have conducted and published quality improvement research in diabetes. Subsequently, he has served on several advisory boards including Accurate Insulin to establish the accurate initiation and titration of insulin. He currently serves on the American Diabetes Association’s primary care committee. He is working to increase patient and provider awareness of early diabetes (also known as pre-diabetes) and further develop prevention guidelines.
