Danielle Maholtz, DO, is a board-certified pediatric intensive care physician at Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio. She earned her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her pediatrics residency at Akron Children's Hospital. Dr. Maholtz further specialized in pediatric critical care medicine through a fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
Dr. Maholtz is deeply involved in academic medicine through her affiliation with Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), where she educates residents and medical students. She sees academic medicine as vital for shaping the next generation of physicians, thereby impacting her community on a broader scale. Dr. Maholtz's practice encompasses a diverse patient population, including a large Amish community and underserved individuals from Akron and Cleveland. She views this diversity as an opportunity to address healthcare disparities within these communities.
Her leadership in medicine became evident early on, as she engaged with various organizations including as a founding member of the AACOM Residents and Fellows Council. She served as a District Coordinator and a liaison for the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Community Access to Child Health (CATCH) Grant. During her fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, she represented the AAP Section of Pediatric Trainees in the Section of Critical Care Medicine. Currently, Dr. Maholtz focuses on building her academic portfolio by studying the impact of health disparities on critically ill children.
