RVU's PDI and MPDI Programs for Unmatched Students

Published December 16, 2024

Rocky Vista University's College of Osteopathic Medicine developed the Predoctoral Internship (PDI) and Master's Predoctoral Internship (MPDI) to support students who did not initially match into a residency program. The program included 11 participants and achieved a 100% success rate for those re-entering the Match, while also significantly reducing anxiety and enhancing participants' sense of support throughout the process.

These programs are highlighted in the AACOM UME-GME Task Force's Toolkit to Support Students Re-entering the Residency Application & Match Process as an exemplar of an innovative approach to supporting unmatched students.
