AACOM President and CEO Selected to Lead National Health Education Federation

Organization represents more than one million of America’s future health professionals
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Bethesda, MD) – Today the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) proudly announces that Robert A. Cain, DO, AACOM president and CEO, has been appointed president of the Federation of Associations of Schools of the Health Professions (FASHP). Dr. Cain began his term on January 1, 2025, and will serve through December 31, 2026.
“I am deeply honored to assume this leadership position and am grateful for the trust placed in me by my colleagues at FASHP,” said Dr. Cain. “This is a pivotal time for healthcare in America as we address critical workforce shortages and other pressing challenges. The decisions we make today will shape the future of healthcare for generations to come. I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues to attract, retain and educate a highly skilled healthcare workforce dedicated to improving health outcomes in every community.”
FASHP was established in 1968 as a forum for representatives of health professions education institutions to address the role of education in shaping healthcare delivery. The organization promotes effective collaboration across professions in both education and practice, prepares health professions education for future challenges and acts as a liaison with organizations that share a commitment to advancing health professions education. FASHP represents 19 associations encompassing more than 5,000 programs, institutions, hospitals and health systems, and more than 1.4 million students, faculty, clinicians, administrators, residents and researchers.
