We hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season so far. As we look ahead to the new year, we want to first take a moment to reflect on just how successful this past year has been for us. We currently have a total of 1,444 members of AOGME, which includes 493 Residents and Fellows Council (RFC) members. More than 1,250 of our members are new members who were added to our community as part of the pilot complimentary membership campaign we introduced in April.

AOGME members currently come from over 700 residency programs and institutions across 49 states spanning both undergraduate and graduate medical education. More than 30 specialties and subspecialties are represented. Nearly 40 percent of our members are residency program staff or leadership, 34 percent of our members are residents/fellows, 22 percent are college of osteopathic medicine (COM) leaders, faculty or advisors.

Our growing community resulted in a substantial increase in engagement across a variety of programs and initiatives at AACOM/AOGME to support COMs and our GME community. Since May 2023, 280 new members actively engaged with AOGME with a total of 489 engagements by these members to include:

  • Serving as speakers across our hosted webinars
  • Attending and participating in webinars
  • Participating in the AACOM Advocacy Day
  • Serving on the AACOM UME-GME Task Force
  • Engaging in the 2023 AOGME GME Development Institute
  • Serving as abstract reviewers for the Educating Leaders 2024 annual conference
  • Participating in AOGME membership meetings, AOGME’s Council of GME Leaders and the Education Committee

We thank all of you for your leadership and dedication to AOGME and the osteopathic GME profession, and we are excited to further leverage our success in 2024! We hope to see continued engagement from more of our members, if you are interested in getting engaged, please contact us at aogme@aacom.org.
