- Last year, ED announced new regulations for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program that are set to go into effect on July 1, 2023.
- Among the many changes, ED will now allow a qualifying employer to certify employment for a contractor if that individual is providing services that by state law cannot be filled or provided by an employee of that organization.
- This change allows doctors at nonprofit hospitals in states like California and Texas, where laws prevent doctors from working for the hospital directly, to qualify for PSLF.
