Thank you to all who joined AACOM’s Advocacy Day on September 11 and 12, 2024. This year more than 300 hundred members of the OME community came together to participate in more than 180 congressional meetings and attend an advocacy training webinar featuring remarks from Senator Shelley Capito (R-WV) and Representatives John Garamendi (D-CA) and Ben Cline (R-VA).

In addition to the bipartisan, bicameral letter to the NIH, AACOM and our advocates have already increased support for Advocacy Day’s other policy priorities, the Fair Access in Residency (FAIR) Act, H.R. 751, and the Community TEAMS Act, H.R. 7258 & S. 3968.

On September 19, Representatives Diana Harshbarger (R-TN) and Chellie Pingree (D-ME), champions of the FAIR Act, authored an op-ed urging Congress to act now to ensure that all future doctors have an equal opportunity to contribute to our healthcare system. Additionally, the Community TEAMS Act has added eight new cosponsors across the House and Senate.

There is still time to tell Congress to promote DO GME parity through the FAIR Act and fund community-based clinical rotations with the Community TEAMS Act. Use the buttons below to send messages directly to your elected officials and join hundreds of advocates making a real difference for DO students across the country.
