Designed by national architecture firm The S/L/A/M Collaborative and Cincinnati-based firm MSA Design, the new facility will include features such as a state-of-the-art simulation hospital with 16 exam rooms and five flexible simulation rooms, a nearly 200-seat lecture hall and a 5,600-square-foot meeting hall. Plans also include a teaching kitchen where students will learn how to prepare nutritious meals, a key feature of the facility that will benefit students and, in turn, their future patients.

XUCOM's educational model is built around active, immersive learning from day one. Synchronous and systems-based instruction forms the foundation through lectures, small-group sessions, and both problem-based and team-based learning formats ensuring students engage deeply with material alongside their peers.
Simulation is woven into the curriculum early and intentionally. Students gain hands-on experience through Standardized Patient encounters, manikin-based simulations, virtual reality, and partial task trainers, to build clinical confidence before entering patient care settings.
In the first year, all students work in a dedicated anatomy cadaver laboratory, developing a thorough understanding of the human body.
Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) is taught in a state-of-the-art 47-table lab, giving students the space and resources to practice and integrate Osteopathic Principles and Practice into their everyday experience.
Clinical exposure begins early and continues throughout the program. Structured clinical skills instruction ensure students develop both competence and confidence as they progress. A dedicated teaching kitchen supports medical nutrition education, connecting the science of food and health to real-world clinical practice.Students will have a dedicated four-week COMLEX-USA Level 1 preparation block, providing focused, structured review.
Clerkship/Clinical Rotations
Xavier University has secured all clinical rotations in the Cincinnati region including key clinical partners of TriHealth, The Christ Hospital Health Network, Mercy Health Network, HealthSource of Ohio, and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. All XUCOM students will participate in Transition to Clerkship courses which are two four-week courses consisting of preparation in clinical knowledge, hands-on skills, and patient readiness that help bridge the gap between the didactic years and clerkship years. Students then move into required and core clerkships, each four weeks long, including two Internal Medicine rotations, Family Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Psychiatry, OB/GYN, Emergency Medicine, and Geriatrics, alongside two Primary Care Selectives. Throughout the OMS3 year, Call-Back Days bring students back to campus to complete standardized exams and participate in OMM Clinical application. Fourth year students will have five general electives, a surgery elective, a rural or underserved rotation, and a Sub-Internship in rural or underserved medicine. The Transition to GME course guides students through the ERAS application process and the intricacies of The Match, while indepth career counseling and residency training preparation.

XUCOM does not set minimum qualifications for candidates to apply and conducts a holistic assessment that aligns with our Jesuit values and the COM’s mission to produce graduates who are relentless in pursuit of compassion, excellence, and service to their patients. Candidates must submit a primary application through AACOMAS including a minimum of 2 letters of recommendation and a valid MCAT score taken within the last 3 years. Secondary applications are emailed to candidates starting in July. Once a secondary application is submitted, qualified candidates will be reviewed and invited to interview in person. Admission decisions will be released on a rolling basis
